Lack of sleep can affect everything from our emotions to how well we focus on tasks like driving. It can even cause headaches, stomachaches, or other physical problems.</p>
<p>How can we get the sleep we need? Here are some ideas:</p>
<ol class="kh_longline_list">
<li><strong>Be active during the day.</strong> You&#8217;ve probably noticed how much running around little kids do — and how soundly they sleep. Take a tip from a toddler and get at least 60 minutes of exercise a day. Physical activity can decrease stress and help people feel more relaxed. Just don&#8217;t work out too close to bedtime because exercise can wake you up before it slows you down.</li>
<li><strong>Avoid alcohol and drugs.</strong> Lots of people think that alcohol or drugs will make them relaxed and drowsy, but that&#8217;s not the case. Drugs and alcohol disrupt sleep, increasing a person&#8217;s chance of waking up in the middle of the night.</li>
<li><strong>Say goodnight to electronics.</strong> Experts recommend using the bedroom for sleep only. If you can&#8217;t make your bedroom a tech-free zone, at least shut everything down an hour or more before lights out. Nothing says, &#8220;Wake up, something&#8217;s going on!&#8221; like the buzz of a text or the ping of an IM.</li>
<li><strong>Keep a sleep routine.</strong> Going to bed at the same time every night helps the body expect sleep. Creating a set bedtime routine can enhance this relaxation effect. So unwind every night by reading, listening to music, spending time with a pet, writing in a journal, playing Sudoku, or doing anything else that relaxes you.</li>
<li><strong>Expect a good night&#8217;s sleep.</strong> Stress can trigger insomnia, so the more you agonize about not sleeping, the greater the risk you&#8217;ll lie awake staring at the ceiling. Instead of worrying that you won&#8217;t sleep, remind yourself that you can. Say, &#8220;Tonight, I will sleep well&#8221; several times during the day. <script src="http://kidshealth.org/misc/movie/flashmovie.js" type="text/javascript"></script><script src="http://kidshealth.org/misc/movie/teen/T_stress_def.js" type="text/javascript"></script> It can also help to practice breathing exercises or gentle yoga poses before bed.</li>
<li><strong>Everyone has a sleepless night once in a while.</strong> But if you regularly have trouble sleeping and you think it&#8217;s affecting your mood or performance, talk to your doctor.</li>

Ads for cigarettes were all over the place. Today we&#8217;re more aware about how bad smoking is for our health. Smoking is restricted or banned in almost all public places and cigarette companies are no longer allowed to advertise on TV, radio, and in many magazines.</p>
<p>Almost everyone knows that smoking causes cancer, emphysema, and heart disease; that it can shorten your life by 10 years or more; and that the habit can cost a smoker thousands of dollars a year. So how come people are still lighting up? The answer, in a word, is addiction.<span id="more-147"></span></p>
<h3>Once You Start, It&#8217;s Hard to Stop</h3>
<p>Smoking is a hard habit to break because tobacco contains nicotine, which is highly addictive. Like heroin or other addictive drugs, the body and mind quickly become so used to the nicotine in cigarettes that a person needs to have it just to feel normal.</p>
<p>People start smoking for a variety of different reasons. Some think it looks cool. Others start because their family members or friends smoke. Statistics show that about 9 out of 10 tobacco users start before they&#8217;re 18 years old. Most adults who started smoking in their teens never expected to become addicted. That&#8217;s why people say it&#8217;s just so much easier to not start smoking at all.</p>
<h3>How Smoking Affects Your Health</h3>
<p>There are no physical reasons to start smoking. The body doesn&#8217;t need tobacco the way it needs food, water, sleep, and exercise. In fact, many of the chemicals in cigarettes, like nicotine and cyanide, are actually poisons that can kill in high enough doses.</p>
<p>The body is smart. It goes on the defense when it&#8217;s being poisoned. For this reason, many people find it takes several tries to get started smoking: First-time smokers often feel pain or burning in the throat and lungs, and some people feel sick or even throw up the first few times they try tobacco.</p>

<p>The consequences of this poisoning happen gradually. Over the long term, smoking leads people to develop health problems like cancer, emphysema (breakdown of lung tissue), organ damage, and heart disease. These diseases limit a person&#8217;s ability to be normally active — and can be fatal. Each time a smoker lights up, that single cigarette takes about 5 to 20 minutes off the person&#8217;s life.</p>

<p>Smokers not only develop wrinkles and yellow teeth, they also lose bone density, which increases their risk of osteoporosis (pronounced: <strong>ahs</strong>-tee-o-puh-<strong>row</strong>-sus), a condition that causes older people to become bent over and their bones to break more easily. Smokers also tend to be less active than nonsmokers because smoking affects lung power.</p>
<p>Smoking can also cause fertility problems and can impact sexual health in both men and women. Girls who are on the pill or other hormone-based methods of birth control (like the patch or the ring) increase their risk of serious health problems, such as heart attacks, if they smoke.</p>
<p>The consequences of smoking may seem very far off, but long-term health problems aren&#8217;t the only hazard of smoking. Nicotine and the other toxins in cigarettes, cigars, and pipes can affect a person&#8217;s body quickly, which means that teen smokers experience many of these problems:</p>

<p align="justify">Depressive disorders come in different forms, just as do other illnesses, such as heart disease and diabetes. Three of the most common types of depressive disorders are discussed below. However, remember that within each of these types, there are variations in the number, timing, severity, and persistence of symptoms.</p>
<p align="justify">
<p align="justify"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Major depression</strong></span></p>
<p align="justify">
<p align="justify">Major depression is characterized by a combination of symptoms that last for at least two weeks in a row, including sad and/or irritable mood (see symptom list), that interfere with the ability to work, sleep, eat, and enjoy once-pleasurable activities. Disabling episodes of depression can occur once, twice, or several times in a lifetime.</p>
<p align="justify">
<p align="justify"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Dysthymia</span></strong></p>
<p align="justify">
<p align="justify">Dysthymia is a less severe but usually more long-lasting type of depression compared to major depression. It involves long-term (chronic) symptoms that do not disable but yet prevent the affected person from functioning at &#8220;full steam&#8221; or from feeling good. Sometimes, people with dysthymia also experience episodes of major depression. This combination of the two types of depression is referred to as double-depression.<span id="more-94"></span></p>
<p align="justify">
<p align="justify"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Bipolar disorder (manic depression)</strong></span></p>
<p align="justify"><!--adsense#160image-->Another type of depression is bipolar disorder, which encompasses a group of mood disorders that were formerly called manic-depressive illness or manic depression. These conditions show a particular pattern of inheritance. Not nearly as common as the other types of depressive disorders, bipolar disorders involve cycles of mood that include at least one episode of mania and may include episodes of depression as well. Bipolar disorders are often chronic and recurring. Sometimes, the mood switches are dramatic and rapid, but most often they are gradual.</p>
<p align="justify">
<p align="justify">When in the depressed cycle, the person can experience any or all of the symptoms of a depressive disorder. When in the manic cycle, any or all of the symptoms listed later in this article under mania may be experienced. Mania often affects thinking, judgment, and social behavior in ways that cause serious problems and embarrassment. For example, indiscriminant or otherwise unsafe sexual practices or unwise business or financial decisions may be made when an individual is in a manic phase.</p>

<p>This article will detail the best way to get a child can lose weight and keep it off with a list of diet dos and don&#8217;ts.</p>
<p>Being overweight or obese will put you at increased risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and cause emotional problems in adolescence and adulthood.</p>
<p>A child&#8217;s body fatness changes over time as they grow, and boys and girls differ greatly in the amount of fatness considered to be the norm. Overweight is defined as having a weight that is greater than 94% of children of similar age and sex.</p>
<p>Kids who are obese remain heavy through adolescence will usualy stay that way when they have reached adulthood resulting in illnesses such as diabetes,high blood pressure, heart disease, and several cancers which now claim an estimated 500.000 lives per year, costing over a $100 billion in medical expenses and lost productivity.<span id="more-86"></span></p>
<p><strong>Be a good role model.</strong><br />
The main thing that parents can do is to be a good role model for their children. Parents can set their kids up for failure unwittingly.she says. When your kids look for snacks, how can they succeed if their are only candy or potao chips. I would suggests fill your refrigerator and with fresh fruits, nuts, low-fat cheese. This is such a simple solution.</p>
<p><strong>Be positive.</strong><br />
Try not to use the words &#8220;lose weight.&#8221;Try using words such as &#8220;Let&#8217;s be healthy and start taking care of our bodies. &#8220;Be positive and focus on the good foods you can eat and not the ones that you cannot. Another way to approach getting your kids to excersise is to say &#8216;Lets go to the park or lets have some fun.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Make healthy eating a family affair.</strong><br />
Make plans and food preparation appropriate for the all the family so you don&#8217;t single out the overweight child, which is like saying, &#8216;Your overweight, so you can&#8217;t have this serving. Let your kids help you prepare the meal. Your child will have to live on his/her own someday and should know how to cook so they don&#8217;t rely on fast foods. Make cooking fun and interesting. Trying to add weight is something that&#8217;s not easy to do and your probably aware of this already. I know, because it is something I have to do every day. What makes it harder for me is that I&#8217;m the skinny body type with a fast metabolism which makes gaining weight very hard for guys like me. The key to successful weight gain is to do everything big. You need to eat big, lift big, to get big. Keep repeating this in your mind so you don&#8217;t forget. Many people think weightlifting is the only key to gaining weight, and I won&#8217;t disagree, it is an extremely important part. yet, there is another thing that is just as important when it comes to how to gain weight, and it&#8217;s what you eat.</p>
<p>5 simple steps to how to gain weight.<br />
<span id="more-85"></span><br />
1) Count all the calories you eat in a normal day. Don&#8217;t change anything at all, just eat like you normally do and count how many calories you have consumed. This is a very important step, so try to be as precise as possible. Also, weigh yourself.</p>
<p>2) The day after you counted calories, you will need to eat 500 calories more then you normally do. So, if you counted 3000. For the rest of the week, you would now need eat 3500 calories a day. exchange eating three big meals a day, spread those calories out over 5 or 6 smaller meals eating one meal every two and a half to three hours. Remember, to get big, you have to eat big.</p>
<p>3) Weightlifting: Get to a gym and lift. This is one of the most important steps to gain weight, so make sure you doing this correctly.</p>
<p>4) At the end of the week, weigh yourself. If you have taken the above advice you will notice you&#8217;re gaining weight just after one week. Gaining more than 1 or 2 pounds a week is not healthy and means you&#8217;re putting on too much fat. Look for 1 or 2 pound gains at the end of the week. It may not sound like much but it will soon add up as the weeks and months go by.</p>
<p>5) This is important. At some point, you will notice no weight gain. It&#8217;s at this point, you will need to eat even more, as much as an extra 2oo-300 calories a day. Every time you haven&#8217;t gained weight for at least 2 weeks, add an extra 250 calories. Also, Increase the weights your lifting. You should increase the weight as the weeks go by or you will not see any weight gaining results. You will get more toned but you will not increase in weight unless you lift more.</p>
<p>Important tips.<br />
Stay clear from bad fat. Get rid of the junk food and stick to high protein, low saturated fat foods such as, chicken breast, turkey, rice, pasta, fish vegetables, fruits nuts and flax seed oil, etc.<br />
Keep track on your progress.Weigh yourself once a week. Drink about half gallon a day or more. This will give you the energy needed to gain that weight. Get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. If your following these steps to the latter you&#8217;re gonna need it.</p>
<p>Weight gain concerns.<br />
Many people are worried they will be putting on extra fat while tyring to gain weight. it is impossible to gain weight without putting on a little bit of extra fat. But you want to see some weight gain right? So who cares about that little bit of extra fat you might put on while gaining. <p>Ia diancarkan buat pertama kalinya pada tahun 2006 dan diraikan pada hari Khamis kedua pada setiap bulan Mac. Pada 8 Mac 2007 Hari Buah Pinggang Sedunia telah disambut di 66 buah Negara. Sambutan Hari Buah Pinggang Sedunia kali ini berlangsung pada 13 Mac 2008.</p>
<p>Tujuan diadakan hari Buah Pinggang Sedunia ini adalah untuk menimbulkan kesedaran tentang betapa pentingnya buah pinggang kita- organ tubuh yang sungguh menakjubkan yang memainkan peranan yang penting untuk kita terus hidup dan sihat  dan juga untuk menyebarkan maklumat bahawa penyakit buah pinggang adalah satu perkara yang biasa, berbahaya dan boleh dirawati.<span id="more-66"></span></p>
<p>Peranan utama yang dimainkan oleh buah pinggang kita (yang saiznya hanyalah sebesar penumbuk dan terletak jauh di dalam abdomen, di bawah tulang rusuk) adalah untuk menyingkirkan toksin-toksin dan mengeluarkan air dari darah. Setiap hari buah pinggang akan menapis dan membersihkan 200 liter darah sejumlah kuantiti yang boleh memenuhi 200 botol atau 20 baldi! Di samping itu buah pinggang juga membantu kita mengawal tekanan darah tinggi, menghasilkan sel-sel darah merah dan membuatkan tulang kita sihat.</p>
<p>1. Apakah itu Penyakit Buah Pinggang Yang Kronik (CKD)?<br />
FAKTA: CKD wujud apabila seseorang itu mengalami peningkatan albumin di dalam kumbuhan air kencing atau penurunan fungsi buah pinggang yang besar atau kadar Penapisan Glomerular (Glomerular Filtration Rate- GFR)</p>
<p>2. Sejauh mana penyakit buah pinggang kronik ini dianggap biasa?<br />
FAKTA: Lebih 500 juta orang di seluruh dunia -10% polulasi dewasa-mengalami kerosakan buah pinggang, dan setiap tahun berjuta-juta mereka yang meninggal dunia kerana penyakit jantung berkait rapat dengan CKD</p>
<p>3. Apakah punca-punca penyakit buah pinggang kronik?<br />
FAKTA: Secara globalnya punca-punca CKD adalah kerana `nephrotic atau keradangan pada buah pinggang, jangkitan kuman, kegagalan di dalam pembuangan air kencing dan penyakit keturunan seperti penyakit buah pinggang Polistatik. Ini juga mengubah pandangan negara-ngara membangun dan sedang membangun terhadap penyakit kencing manis dan hipertensi, yang mana juga merupakan punca-punca biasa penyakit serangan jantung (CVD).</p>
<p>Sekiranya buah pinggang kita telah kehilangan keupayaannya untuk berfungsi, kita menyatakan bahawa ia adalah penyakit buah pinggang kronik (CKD). Ia adalah penyakit yang `senyap dan selalunya tidak disedari kemunculannya kerana ia bukan penyakit yang dirasai secara fizikal. Namun begitu ia memberi kesan kepada kebanyakan manusia yang kita mungkin dapat dapat bayangkan: kajian-kajian terhadap kehidupan pelbagai kaum yang tingal di benua-benua yang berbeza di muka bumi ini menunjukkan bahawa 1 daripada 10 orang dewasa menghadapi masalah buah pinggang yang rosak.</p>
<p>Mereka yang menghadapi penyakit buah pinggang kronik berisiko 10 kali lebih tinggi untuk diserang penyakit jantung dan angin ahmar (Strok). Kesihatan pada buah pinggang mereka juga semakin menurun sehinggakan sampai pada satu peringkat buah pinggang mereka perlu diganti (ia dikenali sebagai `end-stage renal disease) . Sama ada pesakit menerima buah pinggang yang baru dan melakukan pembedahan pertukaran buah pinggang atau mereka terus hidup dengan mengadakan ` proses dialisis- biasanya dengan mesin khas yang bertindak membersihkan darah tiga kali seminggu</p>
<p>Kita bernasib baik kerana boleh mengesan penyakit buah pinggang kronik ini di peringkat awal dengan mudah. Senang saja, ujian air kencing, darah dan tekanan darah tinggi boleh menunjukkan tanda-tanda awal masalah- masalah buah pinggang. Apa yang penting jika kita mengetahui masalah-masalah ini di peringkat awal, kita boleh memperlahankan atau menghentikan penyakit buah pinggang kronik ini, dengan mengambil ubat-ubatan dan menukar sebahagian cara hidup kita.</p>
<p>Mengesan dan merawat CKD di peringkat awal bukan sahaja melambatkan atau menghentikan perkembangan penyakit ini sampai ke tahap akhir, tetapi juga secara signifikasinya mengurangkan berlakunya serangan jantung yang merupakan penyakit yang membawa maut paling biasa berlaku di seluruh dunia ini.</p>

In addition to getting help from a doctor or therapist, here are 5 things you can do to feel better.</p>
<p><strong>1. Exercise.</strong></p>
<p>Take a 15- to 30-minute brisk walk every day — or dance, jog, or bike if you prefer. People who are depressed may not feel much like being active. But make yourself do it anyway (ask a friend to exercise with you if you need to be motivated). Once you get in the exercise habit, it won&#8217;t take long to notice a difference in your mood. In addition to getting aerobic exercise, some yoga poses can help relieve feelings of depression. Try downward-facing dog or legs-up-the-wall pose (you can find these poses on yoga websites). Two other aspects of yoga — breathing exercises and meditation — can also help people with depression feel better.<span id="more-62"></span><br />
<strong>2. Nurture yourself with good nutrition.</strong></p>
<p>Depression can affect appetite. One person may not feel like eating at all, but another might overeat. If depression has affected your eating, you&#8217;ll need to be extra mindful of getting the right nourishment. Proper nutrition can influence a person&#8217;s mood and energy. So eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and get regular meals (even if you don&#8217;t feel hungry, try to eat something light, like a piece of fruit, to keep you going).<br />
<strong>3. Identify troubles, but don&#8217;t dwell on them.</strong></p>
<p><img src="http://fanart.lionking.org/Artists/Kristin_O/ShadeDepressed.jpg" align="right" height="164" width="306" />Try to identify any situations that have contributed to your depression. When you know what&#8217;s got you feeling blue and why, talk about it with a caring friend. Talking is a way to release the feelings and to receive some understanding. If there&#8217;s no one to tell, pouring your heart out to a journal works just as well. Once you air out these thoughts and feelings, turn your attention to something positive. Take action to solve problems. Ask for help if you need it. Feeling connected to friends and family can help relieve depression. (It may also help them feel there&#8217;s something they can do instead of just watching you hurt.)<br />
<strong>4. Express yourself.</strong></p>
<p>With depression, a person&#8217;s creativity and sense of fun may seem blocked. By exercising your imagination (painting, drawing, doodling, sewing, writing, dancing, composing music, etc.) you not only get those creative juices flowing, you also loosen up some positive emotions. Take time to play with a friend or a pet, or do something fun for yourself. Find something to laugh about — a funny movie, perhaps. Laughter helps lighten your mood.<br />
<strong>5. Look on the bright side.</strong></p>
<p>Depression affects a person&#8217;s thoughts, making everything seem dismal, negative, and hopeless. If depression has you noticing only the negative, make an effort to notice the good things in life. Try to notice one thing, then try to think of one more. Consider your strengths, gifts, or blessings. Most of all, don&#8217;t forget to be patient with yourself. Depression takes time to heal.</p>

<p>Secara logik&#8230;, mungkin ada kebenarannya..Orang-orang China dan Jepun<br />
mengamalkan minum teh panas sewaktu makan&#8230; dan bukannya air<br />
berAIS.<br />
Mungkin sudah tiba masanya kita meniru amalan minum air panas  sewaktu menikmati hidangan!!!!</p>
<p>Kita tidak akan kehilangan apa-apa&#8230; malah akan mendapat faedah dari amalan ini. Kepada sesiapa yang suka minum AIS, artikel ini sesuai untuk anda baca.Sememangnya sedap minum air ber-AIS selepas makan. Walaubagaimanapun, AIS akan membekukan makanan berminyak yang baru kita makan.  Ia akan memperlahankan penghadaman kita. Bila lemak-lemak ini terbentuk di dalam usus, ia akan menyempitkan banyak saluran dan lama kelamaan ia akan  menyebabkan lemak berkumpul dan kita semakin gemuk dan  menuju  ke arah mendapat pelbagai PENYAKIT.</p>
<p>Jalan terbaik&#8230;adalah untuk minum sup panas atau air PANAS/suam selepas makan.</p>
<p>Nota penting tentang SERANGAN JANTUNG!!!</p>
<p>Anda patut tahu bahawa bukan semua tanda-tanda serangan jantung akan mula terasa pada tangan sebelah kiri. Berhati-hati juga pada permulaan sakit sedikit-sedikit pada bahagian atas<br />
dada anda.Anda mungkin tidak akan mengalami sakit dada pada serangan pertama  serangan jantung. Keletihan dan berpeluh adalah tanda-tanda biasa.  Malah 60% penghidap<br />
SAKIT JANTUNG tidak bangun selepas tidur. Marilah kita berwaspada dan berhati-hati.<br />
Lebih banyak kita tahu, lebih cerah peluang kita untuk terus hidup&#8230;</p>

Ustaz Abdullah Mahmood kata, Rasullulah tak pernah sakit perut sepanjang hayatnya kerana pandai jaga pemakanannya sehari2. apa kata kita ikut diet ini kawan2. tak payahlah susah2 makan pil untuk kurus? Penelitian yang dilakukan oleh Institusi American Cancer Society ini melibatkan 1000 orang relawan dari beberapa negara bagian di Amerika, dan berhasil mengungkapkan bahwa orang yang tidur lapan jam sehari ternyata berisiko 12% meninggal lebih cepat. Risiko ini meningkat menjadi 17% pada orang-orang yang tidur sembilan jam sehari. Risiko kematian yang paling besar terjadi pada seseorang yang tidurnya mencapai sepuluh jam sehari, yaitu mencapai 34%.</p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p>Mengapa tidur lebih dari lapan jam sehari tidak dianjurkan? Profesor Daniel F. Kripke, salah seorang peneliti mengatakan bahwa terlalu banyak tidur sama seperti terlalu banyak makan. Tubuh tidak memerlukan lebih dari yang ia perlukan, terlalu banyak tidur hanya akan membuat organ tubuh melemah. “Sebaiknya setiap orang mempunyai kebiasaan tidur 6,5 jam sehari, tapi harus tidur yang berkualiti. “Tak ada alasan untuk menambah jam tidur, tubuh akan memberitahu kita berapa banyak jam yang ia perlukan untuk beristirahat, ” ujar Prof. Daniel.</p></blockquote>
