Lets face it – Many.. Oh wait! Not many.. Almost all webmasters/bloggers believe that Adsense is the best. But do they know why? There is no reason to this, they just like it because of high PPC rates. But what are the benefits? Let me tell you, except the high PPC rates there are NO benefits! Now lets see the good side of Adbrite and the negative side of Adsense:

1) Adbrite allows you to select your keywords. Yes! You don’t need to blog or make a website about the highest paying keywords(Like Adsense), you just need to select the keywords you think your readers would be interested in having a look at. Example: You run a free image sharing website with ads over it(Read the last point if you really have an image sharing website). Adsense will show the ads with the keywords: “free, sharing, website” and your domain name. Where as, Adbrite will show the ads that you think your visitors would be interested in. We take the same example, a free image sharing website: Now what do you think? Why are people using your service? One simple reason: Its FREE! So basically your traffic category falls into the freebie category and about 75% your visitors would be likely interested in “Making Money Online”, which is a high PPC keyword. Just select the keywords with the highest paying keywords and your done! Adbrite will show the ads of your selected keywords, unlikely Adsense showing Ads according to your location. (Since I’m from India, I only see LK Advani or Shaadi.com ads on Adsense Ads. How bad is that?!)

2) Adbrite has Inline and Full Page ads. These two are the major postive points about Adbrite. If your running a high traffic website or a one which allows the user to download, upload and share files the full page and inline text ads are the BEST! Instead of using only captcha you could use these ads + captcha and make money by allowing the user to download the file(s) This ad is best recommended for Image/File hosting websites.

3) Payout is at $5!!! WOW! Adbrite pays out is at only $5 which is pretty cool. But they use the Net-60 payment meathod which requires the publisher to wait for 60 days from the date of generation of the click value. I’m all cool about this, I can select my payout from $5 – $xxxx. Which ever I am comforable with. In Adsense you need to reach $100 which is easily achiveable BUT If you achive it in the wrong way or if your CTR is above 10.. You are BANNED! This is not with Adbrite

4) PPC Value: We all know that Adsense offers a very good PPC value, however, same can be achieved with Adbrite. As I mentioned above,Â select the (highest paying) keywords you think are good for you and see the same PPC value as Adsense. Trust me, I’ve tried it! I got upto $1.26 for a click. Thats seriously crazy!

5) Monetize your images. You can monetize your images with Adbrite. How cool is that?!?! Benefits of this? Many visitors try to click on the image or rip off your work but you will still make money off this I found this feature of Adbrite a killer one!! Even if a user tries to rip off your image or tries to right click and copy the location, you are being paid Tomorrow if someone has your copyright image on his/her blog, don’t worry.. You have been paid for it! Thats not it, If the user copy pastes your complete article the ad is going with it

I believe there are many more features in Adsense and Adbrite both but I have tried my level best to cover up the major positive/negative factors of both. But I strongly recommend Adbrite.

After I converted this website into a blog, I realized that I wanted more than just a blogging hobby. What I really want is a generous source of revenue from this blog. To that end, I realized, as an owner of a new blog, how can I get the most bang for my blogging buck? After all, there are only 24 hours in the day so I have to use them wisely.

I decided it was worth it to take a few hours each day to see what successful and unsuccessful bloggers do. Everyone uses a variety of different tricks and techniques in an attempt to create a successful blog as evident in the Bloggers Face Off at dailyblogtips.com.

It’s worth taking a read. The bloggers Face off is a series of interviews with various successful bloggers. They talk about what they do and how they became successful at blogging. Some blogs have been around for quite some time while others are rather new. The one thing they all have in common is that they are all generating a nice stream of revenue.

Social Media, Social Networking and Backlinks

One blogger explained the pitfalls of searching for backlinks. Although they are valuable and are very helpful when it come to search engine placement, but spending inordinate amounts of time seeking them can cause you to lose focus. The bottom line is that no matter what social media or bookmarking site you use, there’s always an article or two that catches your attention for which you feel you must click and read it. Once you click on that article your drawn away to someplace else and 30 minutes later you not only didn’t achieve your goal of getting backlinks, you’ve spent unproductive time and have not added value to your blog.

Content, Content, Content

On his most successful blog, Alborz Fallah, founder of CarAdvice.com.au advised that he started out writing a minimum of two unique articles a day for his blog. Darren Rowse began his now very successful ProBlogger blog with no less than five posts a day of unique content.

Seeing that both of them make in excess of $10-$20000 per month from their blogs, it has become abundantly clear to me to follow their lead and spend my time writing unique quality content rather than getting lost in the social media back linking maze.

When you have good quality content people will find it and link to it. It may take a little time but it does happen.

My conclusion

Given on a certain number of hours per day to allocate to blogging, the predominance of that time, at least initially, should be creating quality and unique content. Quality content will give me the most bang for my blogging buck.

Let’s face it, sometimes doing good for the sake of good just doesn’t cut it. Why should anyone comment on your blog when there are millions of others to choose from? Occasionally, it helps to provide incentives for your readers to comment. You can give away eBooks, themes, or other products to those who comment; this works wonders since your readers are always on the lookout for free stuff. I’m pretty sure you’ll have a warm fuzzy feeling inside of you after you do. So they feel appreciated on you. Frequently leave comments on some experts blogs which have high traffic and Alexa ranking will increase your blog traffic as well. Do not comment using anonymous. Remember to leave only quality comment instead of saying a word “Hello”. Leave some quality comments so that other people will get interest on you and then visit your blog. Quality traffic tip #1: Leave comments

I can think of no better way to get your name out in front of key players in your industry than by leaving smart, relevant comments on existing blogs. Each comment you leave serves a couple of purposes: it creates a link back to your site (always a good thing), it illustrates that you have something of value to add, and can be the first step in building a relationship with the site owner.

Example #1: By leaving comments on problogger.net, I started to form a relationship with the site’s author. We moved from exchanging comments, to email, to IM, to beer (a good progression in my books!). That relationship has done wonders for my business in the form of referrals and testimonials from a very trusted source. It never would have come to be if I didn’t leave comments.

I can almost guarantee that every time you leave a comment, someone will visit your site. Building your audience one at a time may sound like an awful lot of work. But those readers who come via comments are very likely to be interested in what you and your blog are about. So you odds of converting that reader to a client (or whatever your conversion goal is) are good.

Note though, that you’ve got to have something to add. Just leaving a comment with your site name and address, or otherwise spamming comments is just plain dumb.

Quality traffic tip #2: Participate in forums

This is actually very similar to leaving comments. Just about every niche under the sun has a forum dedicated to it. The people who populate those forums tend to be amongst the most vocal and passionate members of their community. Engaging with them, on their terms, by contributing something of value is a great way to find influencers and thought leaders.

Be cautious here though. Do not just show up and say “Hey, check out my blog”. First, establish your credibility by participating in a number of discussions. Then, when it’s relevant to do so, mention your site.

Again, this can seem like a painstaking way to build traffic. It does take time and effort. But the results can be astounding if targeted traffic is what you need.

Quality traffic tip #3: Email other bloggers

When you’ve written something great, write to other bloggers in your niche and tell them about it. Do it politely, without expectations, and you may be pleasantly surprised to find that you pick up a bunch of new readers. The key here is “without expectations”. Don’t email the same person frequently, and don’t be obnoxious. Save this for when you’ve got something special. When you do, simply summarize your post, and write something like “I’ve just posted about blah, and thought you might be interested.”

It’s amazing how few new bloggers take advantage of email. When done correctly, you’re not imposing on the receiving blogger. Rather you’re helping point out resources he may not have otherwise been aware of.

Quality traffic tip #4: Submit your site to relevant blog directories

A google search for “blog directory” (with quotation marks) returns 9,360,000 results. At least a couple of those will have sections relevant to your industry or niche. Almost all directories allow you to submit your site for free. Do a bit of research, find the directories that are relevant to you, and spend a couple of minutes per week submitting your site. Super easy.

Quality traffic tip #5: Join a network

Using google again, “blog network” (with quotation marks) returns 1,190,000 results. There are blog networks for just about everyone. The benefit of joining a network is shared traffic. Network members interlink like crazy, and often refer work to each other. I’m a member of the 9rules network (one of the first, actually). Aside from the traffic boost, one of the greatest benefits of membership is the behind the scenes camaraderie that has sprung up on the private message board. There’s lots of “real life” networking going on here, with members helping each other and their businesses in a myriad of ways.

Quality traffic tip #6: Online advertising

Online advertising need not cost very much, yet it can be extremely effective. Find sites that are in or are related to your industry but that do not directly compete with you. Approach the site owners to see if you can purchase a small ad. Costs for this can be really low – as low as $20 per month. Because you can control the ad’s message, you can ensure that you’re getting targeted results for your investment.
